Great news! It has been reported that Manila bus hostage survivor Yik Siu-ling’s reconstructive jaw surgery in Taiwan was a success. It is hoped that after recovery she can finally lead a more normal life!
Three years ago, Yik along with other members of the Hong Kong tour group was held captive. Bullets shattered her lower jaw, left thumb and right index during the bundled rescue.
Yik is the first survivor to receive compensation, financed by Filipino businessmen, from the Philippine government and had travelled to Taiwan for treatment earlier this month. The doctors in Taiwan believe the surgery was a success and Yik will return to Hong Kong next week for teeth implant operations.
