Gamers at an arcade in Yuen Long got a bit of a surprise on Wednesday evening when a man, sporting a colorful manga tattoo, turned up completely naked and proceeded to discuss his favorite Japanese cartoons.
According to Apple Daily, the man was earlier spotted walking along Castle Peak Road at about 8pm when he suddenly undressed in the middle of the busy street, leaving his clothes, cell phone, and earphones behind, before walking about 30 meters and entering the arcade at Tai Tong Road.
Video sent to the newspaper shows the naked man walking towards bemused gamers and smiling at them.
Eye witnesses also noticed that the man had a tattoo of the character Doraemon, a blue robot cat with a magic pouch who goes on adventures with his friend Nobita.
The lovable Japanese cartoon character is very popular in Hong Kong, where he is commonly referred to by his Cantonese name “Ding Dong” (yes, we know).
(Here’s the Cantonese version of the theme tune in case you were curious).

According to the newspaper, the man casually chatted to arcade patrons about his affection for Japanese cartoon characters.
At one point, he even said he was just like the cartoon character Crayon Shin-chan, the protagonist of a Japanese manga series who often gets into trouble for mischievous or inappropriate behavior, including mooning.
Police arrived at the scene shortly afterwards, took him to the toilet to get changed, and then to the hospital.
The newspaper reports that officers classified the case as a suspected case of “handling a mentally disordered person.”
