Man, who admitted to photographing stranger in toilet, plunges to death before sentencing

A 19-year-old man who admitted to photographing and filming a stranger in a mall toilet was found dead shortly before his sentencing.

The CityU student, surnamed Tse, was scheduled to be sentenced yesterday, Ming Pao reports, but plunged to his death outside his Mui Wo apartment on July 24. A suicide note was found on the scene.

The prosecution has applied to have the case adjourned until October 27, pending the defendant’s death certificate.

On January 12, a 24-year-old man in the bathroom stall at Tung Chung Citygate Outlets heard a shutter sound and looked up to see Tse photographing him on his phone.

Under police caution, the 19-year-old confessed to waiting in the bathroom stalls for an hour to videotape unsuspecting men.

He pleaded guilty to one count of outraging public decency at Tsuen Wan Magistrates’ Court.
