A 60-year-old Hong Kong man, surnamed Ho, was rescued from the sea and arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife in the early hours of yesterday.
At 12:16am on Sunday, the couple’s 18-year-old daughter found her 41-year-old mother, surnamed Tang, unconscious in the family apartment, according to Apple Daily.
Tang’s nose and mouth were covered with tape and there were bruises on her neck. She was rushed to hospital but could not be resuscitated. Acting Chief Inspector of Kowloon City District Crime Squad Mo Siu-hei told reporters that a pair of bloody gloves and a roll of tape were found at the crime scene.
At around 3am, a 60-year-old man was seen in the waters near Salisbury Road in eastern Tsim Sha Tsui. He was rescued by police and identified as the husband of the deceased.
Ho told officers he knew what had happened to his wife. Believing that he was connected to Tang’s murder, police arrested Ho.
Acting Chief Inspector Mo told reporters that the married couple was heard having an argument in their apartment from 10pm to 11pm on Saturday. According to their neighbours, the pair were in the process of separating.
