In what is likely Hong Kong’s first deadly nightshade poisoning case, a 50-year-old man cooked the leaves of the deadly nightshade plant with his noodles that he grew himself and ate it. If you’ve never heard of atropa belladonna, the deadly night shade is one of the most lethal plants in the Eastern Hemisphere and four or five of its berries can cause instant death.
After consuming the noodles, the man started becoming dizzy and vomited and was treated at the emergency department. He is now in stable condition.
Baffling: why would anyone deliberately grow a poisonous plant and eat it?
