Long Bin Interim Housing Block 14, where the 27-year-old man and mother shared an apartment
A 27-year-old man under the influence of drugs lost control and attacked his mother with a knife in their 200-square-feet flat in Yuen Long. Drugged up, he then set fire to his home and jumped out of his first floor flat, injuring himself. His mother suffered multiple knife wounds and was burned in the fire, and perished.
50 residents from the building needed to be evacuated but fortunately, no others were injured. The man was unemployed and had a habit of leaving the home for several days. Before the incident, the man had an argument with his mother.
