A middle-aged man died after passing out at the wheel of his car and crashing into the wall of a tunnel in Hong Kong this morning.
Police were called to the scene at around 7:50am this morning after receiving reports of a car had slammed into the side of the eastbound tunnel of the Central-Wan Chai Bypass, HK01 reports.
Dash cam video circulating online shows the car in question, a red Volvo, suddenly veering to the right across two lanes then hitting a concrete barrier on the side of the tunnel before stopping.
The driver, a 47-year-old man surnamed Yau, was found behind the wheel unconscious and with no obvious injuries. Also in the car at the time was his 51-year-old sister, who called emergency services.
He was taken to hospital in an unconscious state, but Apple Daily reports that he was declared dead just before 9am.
The cause of Yau’s death is still unknown, and police are still waiting for the results of an autopsy.
