Man buys girlfriend HK$11,888 tulip bouquet for Valentine’s

Despite being one of the coldest Valentine’s Day in memory, flower shops are doing a brisk business, according to shop owners at the Mongkok Flower Market. The most expensive order was HK$11,888, for a bouquet of 108 tulips bought by a gentleman for his girlfriend. Aww how sweet!

Despite the unpredictable weather, the supply of flowers have not been affected. Flower sales went up by 30 percent this year compared to the last, said shop owners. Many men came specially to the flower market to buy flowers for their significant other, including a man who bought a dozen roses for HK$550 for his wife of 40 years and another man who bought a HK$1,180 bouquet of roses for his wife who’s celebrating their first anniversary together.

Both said that giving flowers on Valentine’s is a must – do you agree?
