Man, 60, posing for photo, falls 20 feet from Sai Kung dam wall

A 60-year-old man surnamed Lam was posing for a photo on Sunday morning when he fell 20 feet into a gap between the manmade boulders that make up a breakwater in Sai Kung.

Lam, accompanied by eight friends, had been walking from Sai Wan to the High Island Reservoir when, at 1pm, they decided to rest on the east dam wall, reports Apple Daily.

Lam, a man with impressive commitment to capturing a good photo of himself, decided to ignore warning signs and climb onto the tetrapod boulders (those weird T-shaped rocks) and pose for a picture.

Unfortunately he slipped and fell 20 feet into a gap between the tetrapods.

He was rescued by firefighters and sent to Eastern hospital by a helicopter. He is currently in serious condition.

In a strange coincidence, a couple hours later another 60-year-old man, this time surnamed Ho, felt dizzy and fell thirty feet while hiking on Lantau Island’s Dog Teeth Range (Kau Nga Ling).

Sustaining head injuries, he too had to be rescued by helicopter.
