Man, 24, dies after fainting and hitting head during Hong Kong marathon

A 24-year-old man participating in the Hong Kong Marathon died today after fainting and hitting his head on Sunday.

He had almost finished the 10-kilometre race when he collapsed and hit his head on the pavement, reports Apple Daily.

He died at Eastern Hospital.

His family and friends say that he was in good health and was an active athlete.

Another marathon participant, a 49-year-old man, is in critical condition at Yan Chai Hospital after he became sick while running on Tsing Ma Bridge, reports RTHK.

Over 62,000 people participated in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon’s various races this Sunday, 2,000 less than last year.
