A 20-year-old man has been arrested after a prostitute from mainland China was stabbed to death in a brothel in Yau Ma Tei this morning.
The suspect was detained at Kwun Tong promenade as he tried to dive into the harbour to avert police, several hours after the alleged 3:45am killing.
The incident occurred in a second-floor flat that reportedly doubles as a brothel on Reclamation Street, Yau Ma Tei.
“A woman heard [the victim] screaming and went to check. She found a man running out from the flat,” a police source told the SCMP.
The victim, who suffered 20 stab wounds to her neck and chest, had a two-way travel permit for Hong Kong, Macau and China.
The suspect is being questioned by police but is yet to be charged, reports say.
