Making us proud! Hong Kong swimmer wins silver medal at Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing

On Sunday, Hong Kong swimmer Siobhan Bernadette Haughey won the silver medal for the women’s 200m individual medley event at the second Summer Youth Olympic Games, hosted in Nanjing this year. It’s the first medal for Hong Kong so far in these games.

Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing (pictured above with Haughey) congratulated her on her win, saying that the government is “thrilled by [Hong Kong athletes’] outstanding performance” at the games.

Haughey first got in the spotlight for her aquatic talent in August 2013, when she became the first Hong Kong swimmer to win a gold medal at the world junior championships, according to the SCMP.
