A 49-year-old mainland woman, Tao Qiaoyun, travelled all the way to Hong Kong from Nanjing furious that her investment of 400,000 yuan (HK$499,215) had been lost by brokerage firm, Million Rich Securities.

Tao stormed up to the brokerage firm to demand for a refund, when the firm refused, she smashed staffs’ cups and the company’s cabinets. In the process of Tao storming her way into the manager’s office, four of the company’s staff were injured.

Tao faced five offenses in court including criminal damage and common assault but the magistrate at Kwun Tong court decided to place Tao on a two-year good behavior bond of HK$2,000 and was asked to pay the firm HK$500 in compensation and HK$1,000 in legal costs.
