Mainland Follies: Man loses fingers trying to feed tiger paper money (VIDEO)

A 65-year-old man in the mainland town of Jingziguan had two fingers bitten off by a tiger on Wednesday after he tried to feed the animal, and a nearby lion, with banknotes.

The man, surnamed Bai, tried to put cash in the mouth of the carnivorous cats as they lounged in their cages aboard a traveling circus truck.

The circus was visiting the Henan province town when the incident occurred, according to the Nanyang Evening Post.

The clip, posted online by HK01, shows Bai approach the cages containing the big cats and offer up a few wads of delicious cash.

While the lion seemed appeased and began munching the money, the tiger instead went straight for the sexagenarian’s fingers, refusing to let go until circus staff began hitting it with iron bars.

Bai then dropped to the ground, blood rushing from his hand. According to the reports, he was treated in hospital and will recover fully … minus the two digits.

According to the Beijing Youth Daily, Bai’s granddaughter said he had lost his middle finger and part of his ring finger.

She complained there was no warning tape set up at the site, though it’s pretty easy to argue that maybe no warning should be necessary, given the fact that it was a FRIGGIN’ TIGER.

Another relative told the newspaper that Bai had been (gasp!) drinking prior to the circus.

Concluding its report, the Nanyang Evening Post reminded its readers to take care as some animals could be fierce. Wise words for all of us to remember as we head into our hopefully tiger-free weekends.
