It’s certainly one of the stranger traffic jams we’ve seen in recent times.
A man caused traffic to grind to a halt in Guangdong yesterday because he was cooking noodles in the middle of the road.
According to the Chinese microblogging site Weibo, the incident took place at around 11am on the Gaozan Bridge in the city of Foshan.
The mystery man — who presumably skipped breakfast — set up a gas canister and hob in the middle of the road and started cooking noodles in the rain.
One person even posted online a screengrab from a map app on his phone warning him that there was congestion because of “a person in the middle of the road cooking noodles.”

The incident prompted some to wonder if noodles cooked by the roadside taste better than ones cooked in the kitchen.
“Can I have a bowl of noodles too please?” commented one interested party.
“You like eating dust and drinking rainwater?” responded another commenter with what we’re going to say was a fair point.
Another seemed less concerned with the impractical location of the man’s makeshift cook up, and more curious about the weather aspect.
“You should cook that when it’s 40 degrees Celsius outside,” he offered helpfully.
It is not clear how long the traffic delay lasted, but according to Weibo, traffic police apprehended the man are looking into the incident.
