Police have arrested a mainland Chinese man who graffitied pro-Beijing slogans and smashed glass barriers in Mong Kok MTR station.
Video captured by a passerby around 6am last Friday showed the man scribbling political graffiti including “Long live the Chinese Communist Party,” “Long live Mao Zedong and the People’s Liberation Army,” and “Destroyers of the nation and Hong Kong must die” in simplified Chinese near exits A and B of the station concourse.
He also used a fire extinguisher to bash an exit gate and the surrounding barriers, sending glass shards flying as MTR staff cautioned commuters not to walk near him.

According to Apple Daily, station staff attempted to stop the man and alerted the police. Officers arrived at the station and arrested the 33-year-old man, surnamed Li, on a suspected criminal damage charge.
The mainland Chinese man holds a recognizance paper, a document typically issued to illegal immigrants and allows individuals conditional release from detention.
