Are you human and in Hong Kong? We expect most of those reading can say yes to both those questions.
If so, you may one day be featured on the Humans of Hong Kong Facebook page, a project inspired by the well known New York version – but run entirely by local students.
Davain Doolaramani, 17, moved from New York to Hong Kong with his family last year and felt inspired to set up the group.

Starting out small as Humans of Island School (which Doolaramani attends), the team of interviewers soon expanded their scope to scholars of Hong Kong in general, largely focussing on seniors giving advice to younger students.
Take a look at some of their words of wisdom:
Deep, man.
Keen to bring more varied stories to the masses, however, Doolaramani has now started to feature proper bonafide adults on the page, including the founder of Cali-Mex, buskers, journalists from SCMP, and, of course, the Coconuts editors.
Check out the HOHK post featuring our fabulous multimedia editor, Laurel Chor:
She has a lot of say, clearly.
And be sure to keep an eye out for our managing editor, Crystal Wilde, who’s due to make an appearance very soon.
Speaking to Coconuts HK, Doolaramani said he feels it’s more of a challenge to grab five minutes with a Hongkonger than it is a New Yorker.
“Humans of New York was my inspiration, so we’re expanding to [a citywide focus]. We’re excited to start a new chapter,” he said. “But Hong Kong is a city where you can’t really talk to people because they’re always in a rush. It’s not [as] open compared to New York, but I think my team can make it happen.”
So next time you get approached by someone young and energetic who just wants your thoughts, remember to be human, as well as Hong Kong.
