LITERALLY freezing! Hong Kong to shiver in 6ºC, New Territories 0ºC, on Sunday and Monday

Since our last Coconuts weather report on Tuesday, the forecast temperatures for Sunday and Monday have come down a whole three degrees, with Hong Kong expecting lows of 6ºC across the city!

Considering the Hong Kong government issues cold weather warnings at 12ºC, we think we can safely say, IT’S TIME TO FREAK OUT!!

What’s even more nutz is the fact the parts of the New Territories may see 0ºC (literally freezing!) in the early hours of Monday morning.

For all those excited by rumours of snow this week spread by the unofficial Hong Kong Weather Information Centre, this is our best bet. However, the air is forecast to be much drier by then, so a cheeky touch by Jack Frost’s frigid fingers is probably all the action we’ll get.

If you’re interested in the wheres and whys of the matter, know that we’re experiencing an intense cold surge courtesy of Siberia, bringing low temperatures and wind to the southern China coast over the weekend and into early next week.

But don’t worry “upper air disturbance” – whatever the hell that is – is likely to bring us the delish 12ºC weather with lots of rain we all love so much from the middle of next week.

Nature, you annoying.
