Lifeline: Be a volunteer ear for the Hong Kong Samaritans

The Hong Kong Samaritans are appealing for new volunteers to be the compassionate ears at the end of their multilingual phone lines.

The hotline service – which is dedicated to assisting locals in emotional distress and with suicidal ideation – desperately needs more help to serve the community’s needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 (or 366) days a year.

If you speak English – preferably, but not necessarily, alongside a minority language such as Bahasa, French, Hindi, Nepali, Thai or Urdu – have an empathetic ear and the ability to listen without judgement, apply here now.

Volunteer training will begin next month.
