The recovered Lamma IV after the accident, ferry that capsized causing the deaths of 39 Hongkongers
It has been a year since the Lamma Ferry disaster and the government is to finally release a detailed report of the on-going internal Marine Department investigation.
Secretary for Transport and Housing Anthony Cheung Bing-leung announced the government’s decision to release the report on Tuesday, although some parts of the report would be withheld since disciplinary actions may be taken.
Information released would include the number of public officers who would face disciplinary proceedings and how they failed their duties.
The disaster, which happened on Oct. 1 last year, took 39 lives after two ferries collided off Lamma Island. The incident was one of the worst maritime disasters in Hong Kong.
