Everyone knows the no-eating rule on the MTR, but a lady lugging a wheeled suitcase recently went berserk at being told off by other passengers for letting her son eat on the MTR.
A commuter captured it on video and the clip has gone viral on social networking sites, which shows a middle-aged lady with a heavy mainland accent yelling at the woman next to her: “What business it of yours [that I eat on the train]? What business is it of yours? You are not Leung Chun Yuk! You are not the police! It’s none of your business!”
The woman facing the onslaught remained calm to her credit. She never once raised her voice and after several minutes of listening to the woman yelling abuse at her, retorted: “The MTR belongs to everyone, so it is everyone’s business. No one is bullying you, but the rule is the rule.” The angry lady, having nothing to say to that, finally left in a huff.
Watch both clips below. Things really begin to heat up at the beginning of the second video.
Correction: An earlier version of this story reported that the son was eating McDonald’s. That is incorrect. We apologize for the error.
