A power cut on the Kwun Tong Line last night delayed rush hour commuters for over two hours, and saw eight passengers hospitalised while hundreds of people were made to walk along train tracks to the nearest platform.
At 6:07pm, a power failure at Choi Hung Station caused severe delays on the Kwun Tong Line, leading to services between Kowloon Tong and Kwun Tong Stations being suspended. Service on the rest of the line was also seriously disrupted, and MTR Corp. arranged for shuttle buses to transport affected passengers.

The power cut affected eight trains, which were then stuck on the rails with no electricity or air con. According to Apple Daily, roughly 2,000 passengers were trapped on trains for over an hour. Eight commuters, including one pregnant woman, were sent to hospital for dizziness. At least two people fainted.
At around 7pm, hundreds of passengers – who were onboard two trains between Kowloon Bay to Diamond Hill — were asked to disembark their carriages and walk on the train tracks to the nearest platform.
Kwun Tong Line trains began running again at 8:40pm, and full service was restored by 9:10pm.
