KMB bus fares will increase by 3.9 percent from Jul. 6

The Hong Kong Executive have approved KMB’s fare increase application by 3.9 percent to take effect Jul. 6 onwards.

According to the RTHK, KMB originally applied for a 4.3 percent fare increase but the Hong Kong Executive reduced it by 0.4 percent.

Transport Secretary, Anthony Cheung, claims that 86 percent of passengers will be affected by less than a 40 cents increase in fares per trip. 14 percent of passengers will be affected by 50 cents to a dollar increase in fares, with only 0.1 percent of passengers paying more than HK$1 increase per trip, all of which are routes travelling to the racecourses.
