A Hong Kong car dealership employee was arrested in the early hours of the morning for allegedly helping himself to a Porsche from the lot, speeding away from an attempted police stop, and slamming into a taxi in Yuen Long before somehow falling out of the vehicle as it careened into a parked car.
According to Apple Daily, the man, a 25-year-old surnamed Lee, was driving himself and a 22-year-old female passenger along Kau Yuk Road in a black Porsche SUV when traffic police attempted to pulled him over at about 2:40am.
Police had sought to stop Lee over the loud noise coming from the Porsche’s exhaust pipe, on.cc reports.
Rather than stop, however, Lee hit the gas and led officers on a three-kilometer high-speed chase through Yuen Long.
In his efforts to evade the cops, Lee drove through a red light at Castle Peak Road and rammed into a green taxi.
At that point, Lee somehow managed to fall out of the vehicle altogether, leaving his female passenger inside, and the car proceeded to speed along driverless for about 60 meters before crashing into the back of a stationary white car on Kik Yeung Road.
An initial investigation found that Lee’s driver’s license did not match the details for the Porsche, and he also failed a breathalyzer test.
Lee was arrested on suspicion of furious driving, drunk driving, using a false instrument, and taking a conveyance without authority, Apple Daily reports.
Lee was sent to the hospital with injuries to his hands and legs, as was the 47-year-old taxi driver, surnamed Hui, who sustained head injuries.
The 22-year-old female passenger was uninjured thanks to the car’s airbags, but was taken to the police station to help with the investigation.
