Tai Chi-wai (42) and Catherine Au Yuk-shan (41) were sentenced to three years and three months in prison and five and a half years respectively for their cruel and vicious acts against Indonesian helper, Kartika Puspitasari (30). A harsher sentence was given to the wife as she took a greater part in the assaults.
During the course of two years, Puspitasari claimed she endured attacks with a bicycle chain, hot iron, paper cutter, hanger, and shoe – all of which the judge found the couple guilty of.
Puspitasari’s other claims, her being tied to a chair for five days with no food and water when the couple went on holiday, forcing her to wear three-year old girl’s clothes, and have her breasts exposed to the family were in the Judge’s mind quite unbelievable, leading to Tai and Au’s acquittal on such charges.
SCMP reports, the couple’s three children aged five to 11 will be in the care of the Social Welfare Department.
