A Hong Kong social media influencer took to Instagram for an expletive-laden rant about her staycation hotel after staff said her pet hedgehog is not welcome.
The influencer, who has close to 20,000 followers, was staying at the 5-star Cordis Hotel in Mong Kok. She reportedly attracted attention when she took out her pet hedgehog, Souffle, by the pool and started taking photos of it.
She detailed the ordeal on her Instagram stories on Wednesday.
Writing in (rather broken) English, she said: “Who the f*** have problem with my girl?! What happen to this world. Can’t even accept a baby animal? F*** yourself and respect my hog. Disgusting people.”
“What a bad ending in this trip,” the influencer wrote, throwing in a middle finger emoji for good measure.
A middle finger, incidentally, is probably what netizens commenting on her stories wanted to give her. On popular forum LIHKG, some criticized her for acting spoiled, and others questioned why she wrote in English when she would have been a lot more coherent typing in Chinese.
(She managed to take a few poolside photos before being told off though, holding up her hedgehog in the way one might show off a colorful dessert or an artfully designed coffee cup for a carefully posed Instagram photo.)
According to a page on the Cordis Hotel’s website, guests are not allowed to bring in any pets except for guide dogs.
In a subsequent story, the influencer explained in Chinese that she thought the staff handled the situation poorly and “do not understand their company’s policy.” (It’s unclear what policy she was referring to.)
She added that she had previously brought her hedgehog to other hotels under the hotel group and had not encountered issues.
In a comment on a post that has since been removed, she wrote that she paid for the hotel stay and was not sponsored for it.
