An influencer in Hong Kong is facing a public backlash after she posted a video of her feeding her cat chocolate ice cream.
In an Instagram story — which has since been deleted, but copies of it are circulating online — Vivian Tsang said, “Chocolate and ice cream are toxic to cats, but my cat really loves to eat [them].”
The story has sparked fury among netizens, who slammed the former TV anchor for animal abuse.
“Evil-hearted,” said one internet user.
“She’s always trying to get famous,” said another.
Binggrae, the brand of the ice cream featured, said in a Facebook comment that it has immediately terminated the cooperation with Tsang after learning about the situation.
“We are deeply concerned about the improper behavior of our company’s partner to promote our product,” said the Korean brand, adding Tsang’s actions are “completely unacceptable”.
It also said it was not aware of the promotional content of its partners in advance and apologized for the incident.
Binggrae promised to carefully choose its partners, and meticulously review the promotion methods and content used by its partners in the future, so as not to allow innocent animals to be harmed or any wrong information to be released to the public.
