Reddit user shy5 created and shared this flag in the vexillology (that’s the study of flags, duh) subreddit with the subject line “If Hong Kong belonged to Taiwan: Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the Republic of Taiwan”.
Another Redditor helpfully suggested that shy5 remove the stars, since they represent China. Here’s the result:
Hopefully neither Chinese netizens nor the Chinese government will see this creation, as it would surely get them royally pissed off. (We can already imagine the headlines: “Unpatriotic colonial dogs insult motherland”.)
