‘I lost my wallet’ woman arrested in Hong Kong after a year of alleged mini-scams

A woman, accused of scamming Hongkongers for HKD200 “loans” for over a year, has been arrested.

The 32-year-old, surnamed Poon, is said to have targeted Tai Po residents with a spiel about losing her wallet and needing to get to the emergency room for over a year.

According to the alleged victims, she promised to return the money but gave out a fake address and phone number, reports Metro Daily.

Police were alerted to the situation when several people who claimed to have lent the woman money contacted them.

According to local residents, she originally started asking people for HKD100, but upped the ante to HKD200 after gaining more confidence.

That’s the last good deed any Hongkonger will do anyone then. Nothing like the perfect excuse to be a nob.
