i-CABLE TV anchor in apparent charcoal suicide, colleagues tell of possible work stress

A female TV news anchor is thought to have committed suicide in Hong Kong, possibly because of work pressure.

Bonnie Leung, 34, a financial news anchor for i-CABLE since 2009, was found unconscious by her mother in her bedroom yesterday with a pot of burning charcoal beside her, reports Ming Pao Daily.

She was certified dead by paramedics at the scene in Fairview Park, Yuen Long.

According to the report, Leung’s colleagues said she had been losing weight recently because of what they perceived to be work stress, but that she simply claimed to have no appetite.

They apparently added that she was quiet and did not mingle much with the group.

i-CABLE confirmed the death today and promised to provide Leung’s family with assistance.
