Police are on the hunt for a peeping tom who filmed guests at a hotel in Tin Hau having sex and taking nude selfies and uploaded the videos online.

The four individuals targeted by the zoom lens-wielding creep were staying in rooms at boutique hotel Twenty One Whitfield, which alerted police about the case about 6pm on Tuesday after learning of the clips, according to Headline Daily.

The videos — which include one seven-minute video showing a couple having sex in one hotel room, and a five-minute video of two semi-naked women taking selfies in another room — appear to have been taken by someone from a nearby buildingApple Daily reported.

No arrests have been made yet, and officers are treating the incident as a case of “access to computer with criminal or dishonest intent”.

Although local media have blurred the faces and private parts of the hotel guests, the original videos posted online did not cover the faces of the subjects, prompting concerns that there has also been a breach of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

Privacy commissioner Stephen Wong to stepped in to remind Hongkongers to “protect themselves” from being photographed, even when they are in a private place like their own home or a hotel room, RTHK reports.

Reporters from hk01 phoned one of the hotel’s guests, the phone was picked up by a woman who said said “we are not accepting any interviews”, and then hung up.
