Hongkongers turn to Xiaomi boxes for online TV

With tycoon Ricky Wong Wai-kay failing to get his internet and mobile television station up and running, Hongkongers are turning to alternatives from the city’s broadcasters for their TV needs, like a set-top box made by mainland technology giant Xiaomi.

Xiaomi boxes allow viewers to watch immensely popular Korean dramas as well as shows and dramas from other channels. The boxes have been selling like hotcakes, with sellers running out of stock until the end of the month. However, Xiaomi has been facing legal troubles for providing users with dramas that other channels have exclusive rights to.
