Although the recent World Happiness Index says Hongkongers are happier than they were last year, the SAR only comes in as the 64th happiest place on earth. We’d say that’s not too many happy people in one place!
A recent survey conducted by MTR Malls finds less than 40 per cent of Hongkongers laughing more than eight times a day.
In fact, about 16 per cent of pollsters said they had nothing or little to laugh about. On average, on a scale of zero to 100, those surveyed rated their happiness level at 64. Sadly, about 15 per cent say they were unhappy or very unhappy.
So what makes Hongkongers happy? 79 per cent claimed shopping, with 41 per cent saying outdoor activities and travelling abroad making them happy, reports The Standard.
