Hongkongers advised ‘not to swim after a full meal’ after poop discovered in public pool

We’re sorry to disappoint those planning to go to the Shing Mun Valley Swimming Pool in Tsuen Wan today, but the government would like you to know that the facilities have been closed due to the “discovery of a small amount of faeces” in the pool.

But fret not, the pool will be reopened at 1:30pm after cleansing and “superchlorination”, which we assume eliminates poop particles better than regular chlorination.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department pleads with the public to be “considerate”, very helpfully advising people to avoid swimming “after a full meal” (when the potential to accidentally let a turd slip is especially high), and to “use the toilet facilities if necessary before swimming” (because that’s where one usually drops the kids off at the pool).
