Hongkong Post releases commemorative stamps for 70th anniversary of ‘Victory Day’ over Japanese

Starting from next month philatelists and history buffs will be able to buy a stamp sheetlet commemorating the “70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression” from the Hongkong Post.

Hurrah!

Beijing has designated Sep. 3 as the “The Victory Day of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression”, which the Hong Kong government says “marked an important milestone in our nation’s history, paving the way for the impressive social and economic development of today”.

The stamps remind us that “stability and peace do not come easily and should be cherished” by juxtaposing scenes from the war with ones from Hong Kong’s “thriving prosperity”.

Official First Day Covers will be on sale for HKD1.20 each at all post offices starting from tomorrow.
