Hong Kong women — gold diggers?

According to an APM Millenium City survey of 505 people aged between 18 and 43, 20 percent wished for good health for 2014, 19 percent wished for a university degree, and 14 percent wished to marry a rich person this year.

That’s pretty sad — according to a Baptist University lecturer in social work, surnamed Shiu — because upward social mobility in Hong Kong has been suspended, women are now hoping to marry a rich spouse to get a higher social status.

Makes us wonder, are we bringing up the little girls in this city with the wrong ideas in our materialistic society?
