In polite Hong Kong company, the only argument you’ll get into with a friend over money is when you’re both insisting on paying the bar tab. In impolite Hong Kong company – and when you owe said “friend” HKD10,000 – you might face a double cleaver attack!
That was the fate of a Hong Kong woman in her 40s who survived being chopped (a very Hong Kong verb) on the head and face on Friday when her friend, a mainland man also in his 40s, came at her with dual cleavers.
According to MingPao, the woman, who owed the man HKD10,000 and had refused to pay, was attacked in her apartment in Tung Shing Court, Nam Cheong Street, Sham Shui Po.
She reportedly ran out of her building onto Lai Chi Kok Road with blood gushing from her head, and sat on the curb until a passerby called the police.
She was immediately taken to hospital, which was probably a damn sight better than the curb.
Police seized the two blood-stained knives from her flat and have arrested the suspected attacker.
Listen to the Lannisters and pay your debts, peeps. And/or don’t borrow money from crazies.
