Hong Kong women gave a stellar performance today on the first day of the Women’s Rugby Sevens, beating Singapore, Kazakhstan and China.

In their first game of the day, Hong Kong bagged an easy 41-0 win against Singapore at the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union’s official pitch, King’s Park in Jordan.

Kazakhstan’s strength and size were unable to make up for Hong Kong’s speed and agility in the second match, with the women securing a comfortable win of 17-5.

Finally, Hong Kong took on China, a much more physically imposing team that’s ranked number one in Asia.

In a historical win, the women came out on top of their pool with their 31-14 win against China.

“We showed consistency and accuracy throughout 14 minutes in every game from player one through twelve,” prop Adrienne Garvey told Coconuts HK.

Tomorrow they have a challenging day ahead as they take on Samoa in the quarterfinals.

“We’re excited for tomorrow and ready to get one over on Samoa, who we lost to narrowly in Borneo recently,” Garvey continued.

“We’re showing what we are made of and raising the bar: another step tomorrow and hopefully we’ll see you in the stadium!”

We’ll definitely be cheering you on, ladies! GO HONG KONG!
