Hong Kong tourist dies in New Zealand car crash

Media reports claim that a Hong Kong tourist has died in New Zealand’s South Island.

The 59-year-old man who died was driving a van carrying 10 passengers, when it crashed into a bridge and plunged into Mataura River. The passengers, which consisted of five Hongkongers, were able to escape from the sinking van.

The group of 10 tourists were family members vacationing in Christchurch for over the Chinese New Year holidays.

Last night, eight out of 10 of the family members were discharged by doctors.
