Hong Kong teenagers arrested for robbing taxi driver with wooden stake and clothes hanger

Three Hong Kong teenagers who allegedly robbed a taxi driver with a wooden stake and a clothes hanger were arrested in the early hours of this morning.

The boys, aged 14, 18 and 19, hailed the taxi from Wah Street in Ngau Tau Kok and journeyed about five kilometres to the Choi Fook estate at around 4am.

After asking the 67-year-old driver if they could go to the ATM to get money to pay him, the boys reportedly returned with a clothes hanger and a wooden stake.

The SCMP reports that the teenagers robbed the driver of his phone and his bag and ran away.

Three young men with some of the driver’s belongings were picked up by police shortly afterwards, following a sweep of the area.

The victim suffered minor injuries to his neck from the clothes hanger. The investigation is pending further enquiries.
