Hong Kong shop space going for HKD1 a month to youths with the best restaurant plan

Always dreamt of opening up your own little restaurant? Yeah, fat chance of that in Hong Kong, unless you can find business rental space for, like, HKD1 a month. Haha!

WAIT. A. SECOND!

In the most unbelievable news ever to come out of a day that wasn’t April 1, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups has teamed up with the nicest landlady in the world to offer young entrepreneurs a ground floor shop in Yau Ma Tei for – yep, you guessed it – HKD1 a month!

The Federation is now accepting business proposals for a food and beverage outlet from anyone aged between 18 – 35.

The 700-square-foot space, which is worth around HKD30,500 a month according to figures from the Rating and Valuation Department, will be leased at this extra special, crazy-ass rate for two whole years.

According to Apple Daily, the landlady of the property at at 28 Shanghai Street contacted the youth group in September to say she wanted to help Hong Kong youngsters start a business. What a peach!

Applicants should submit a business proposal featuring the restaurant’s speciality and financial plan to the Federation directly.

The winning submission will be chosen by a panel of experts in April.
