Hong Kong reveals plans to give HKD50 million to Nepal relief fund

The Hong Kong government has announced plans to donate HKD50 million to the Nepal relief effort following Saturday’s massive 7.9-magnitude earthquake.

A spokesperson has confirmed that a submission will be made to the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council as soon as possible, after which it will be “expeditiously processed”.

Hong Kong’s Secretariat of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee also said they are expecting a number of local organisations to apply for funds to carry out rescue and rebuilding efforts in the Himalayan nation.
