Health officials over the weekend confirmed six more people — including two “probable cases” — have tested positive for the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in the SAR to 100.
Statements published over the weekend confirmed that two of the confirmed cases — two women aged 46 and 71 — were related to the Fook Wai Ching She Temple in North Point, which has been at the center of a cluster of cases in the past week. The Centre for Health Protection confirmed that the 71-year-old had visited the temple, while the 46-year-old woman is the daughter-in-law of a temple-goer who subsequently tested positive.
CHP also confirmed that an elderly couple — aged 76 and 79 — from Sham Shui Po who had no travel history during the incubation period were confirmed to have the virus on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the CHP also reported that the two “probable cases” are passengers from the Diamond Princess cruise ship.
The probable cases comprise a 68-year-old woman, who reported having a fever for two days and a cough since late February, and a 56-year-old man who was asymptomatic throughout. Both tested positive for coronavirus antibodies, suggesting they may have contracted the illness, but had already recovered.
The CHP has also appealed to anyone who traveled in business class on Cathay Pacific flight CX250 from London on Friday to get in touch after they were notified by Guangdong authorities that a passenger on board subsequently tested positive for the coronavirus. The man then boarded ferry 3A109 to Shekou on the same day.
