Hong Kong policeman’s iPhone 6 robbed by ‘South Asian gang’

A member of Hong Kong’s Police Tactical Unit has become the latest person to be relieved of his iPhone 6 by a South Asian gang, according to reports.

The 25-year-old officer was resting on a park bench after jogging near the New Territories South Regional Police Headquarters on Saturday night when the gang of four lunged for his smartphone, reports Apple Daily.

The officer apparently thought he was in a film and tried to fight the gang by himself, but they ultimately won (because this is real life) and fled with his phone.

Investigating officers say all members of the gang were of South Asian origin and in their early 20s.

It is believed that the same group is responsible for another recent robbery of a 35-year-old male nurse at Princess Margaret Hospital in Kowloon.

This time the phone was a Xiaomi RedMi, but officers think it might have been mistaken for an iPhone 6.

Both victims received treatment at hospital.
