A 29-year-old male police officer was arrested and charged yesterday for allegedly raping a woman at an hourly hotel in Kowloon Tong in June this year.
The woman, 27, who filed a report with the police in July, told authorities that she was under the influence of alcohol when the encounter took place and that she did not consent to sexual intercourse, reports Sing Tao Daily.
The two were reportedly at a bar together with friends beforehand, and the officer is said to have taken the woman to an hourly hotel after she became inebriated.
They had an argument regarding the encounter afterwards, according to the paper.
As of Oct. 4, the police officer in question has been suspended from his duties. He is scheduled to appear at Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts on tomorrow (Oct. 5).
A spokesperson from the Hong Kong Police said the force will not tolerate any violations of the law, which, let’s be honest, is kind of the idea of a police force.
