Hong Kong police have budgeted HKD27 million for 3 new ‘crowd management vehicles’

The Hong Kong Police Force have set aside money for the purchase of three “crowd management vehicles” at the cost of HKD9 million each for the 2014-2015 fiscal year.

The budget lines were spotted by journalist Alan Yu and tweeted out by Cédric Sam. 

The Police Commissioner explains in the budget report that the police aim to “conduct major security and crowd management operations to ensure public safety and order”.

The report does not specify the exact nature of these new vehicles.

We just sure as hell hope that they’re not talking about these things:
