Hong Kong Olympian skater received no support from the SAR

Barton Lui (in red)

Hong Kong’s first male Winter Olympian skater despite being glorified by local media has not received the same treatment from the Hong Kong’s Olympic officials.

Lone Hong Kong Olympian Barton Lui arrived at Sochi and requested local Olympian officials bring a team doctor to Sochi. However, Lui’s request was completely ignored.

Lui only finished fifth out of six in the qualifying heats of the 1,500 metre race. Lui claims old injuries and muscle pain forced him to compete in less than favourable physical conditions and with a team doctor, he may have been able to improve his performance, reports the RTHK.
