Hong Kong Observatory issues Amber Rainstorm and Thunderstorm warnings (it’s pretty rainy)

The Hong Kong Observatory has issued an Amber Rainstorm Warning and a Thunderstorm Warning, because it’s totally minging out there.

Just after midnight last night, the Thunderstorm Warning was rolled out, specifying that Hong Kong is experiencing squally rain and wind gusts of 70 kilometres per hour.

Residents are advised to seek shelter in buildings if working outdoors, stay away from trees and masts so you don’t get zapped by lightning, and drive with caution on flyovers in case you get blown off into the sea.

The Amber Rainstorm Warning, which means more than 30 millimetres of rain has fallen in an hour and is likely to continue, was issued at 3:35am.

There is likely to be flash floods in low-lying areas, so residents are urged to take precautions and stay away from watercourses.

But yeah, you still have to go to work… unless you’re a fisherman perhaps.
