A Hong Kong man has plead guilty to incest in the High Court after he allegedly raped and impregnated his daughter, who was 17 years old at the time.
His daughter, now 18, later gave birth to a healthy baby girl, which is now seven months old and has been put up for adoption.
The man had divorced from the teenager’s mother in 2012 after 17 years of marriage, and had been taking care of his daughter ever since his ex-wife moved out, reports Apple Daily.
It is she who alerted the authorities after she discovered her daughter was pregnant while visiting the two in April last year. It turned out that the girl was 30 weeks pregnant.
She accused her ex-husband of raping their daughter, and he allegedly told her she was drunk and begged her not to report the incident.
The defendant reportedly told the police that he was drunk, and that his ex-wife was a “prostitute” in the mainland who slept with many men before their marriage, so he was never sure if the daughter was his.
DNA tests showed that he was the father of both the teenage girl and the baby girl.
The victim told the police that she stopped having her periods in Nov. 2013, and that she suspects her father committed the rape while she was asleep at home.
She woke up one night to find her underwear removed and the defendant sleeping next to her. She also felt pain in her lower abdomen.
In Dec. 2013, the defendant discovered that the girl had not been menstruating. He allegedly suggested she might be pregnant, and told her to go to the mainland to get an abortion.
The man, 55, is in custody until the sentencing on March 20, according to Sina News.
