Hong Kong man hurls all manner of objects from 27th floor flat after calling police for assistance

A man has been arrested in Hong Kong after calling police to report that someone had died, only to hurl a vast variety of objects out of the window on their arrival.

The 50-year-old made the call at around 4:30am, but would not allow the police to enter his 27th floor flat at Kwai Leung House on the Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate, Kowloon City.

Instead, a two-hour standoff ensued, in which he threw furniture, a hair dryer, hot water and a burning metal tray out of the window.

A police spokesperson told the SCMP that no-one was hit by the falling objects as they all the landed in the building’s flowerbed.

After firefighters finally broke down the door, the man allegedly attacked police with an iron rod before they managed to arrest him.

One officer suffered a broken tooth, while the man sustained injuries to his arms, legs and head.

No body was found in the flat, where the man reportedly lives alone. He has no history of mental illness.
